After going to Camembert, we took advantage of a momentarily blue sky and dashed to Lisieux. Whether walking or cycling, we strongly recommend you the road along the river Touques in the Auge region over Notre-Dame-de-Courson and Fervaques: it is simply beautiful!
We went through this world-renowned little village where famous Camembert cheese originates. And met part of the Town Council team, who were quite surprised to see such strange vehicles riding past their Town Hall! They even took pictures of us for the next Camembert municipal newsletter.
We took advantage of the holidays this week and went on a training ride to test our bikes (and us drivers...) in real conditions. Only the weather was slightly different from what we're expecting this Summer (… hopefully): the Sun was not there most of the time.
Our schedule for this test: meeting in Alençon (with Denis coming from Paris and Élise from Rennes) and from there cycling around in Normandy.
Friday, May 1st: after two weeks of intense preparation Denis finally left Limours (Essonne) at 3 p.m.
We have been working on it for more than a month ! Denis' solar trike is about to be ready for the big trip !
If you live in Paris suburbs (Essonne or Yvelines), look around you during week-ends, you could see him training on the roads.
Elise has been riding for more than 1000 kilometers now, and still everything is perfectly fine.
Thank you ICE !
I cycled 500 kilometers with the solar roof, it’s now time to draw the first conclusions…
Dyneema ligatures : perfect !
No sign of wear or any tension release at the moment. The rope is light enough not to suffer from the road vibrations. First I got afraid by the roof flexibility, amplified by the trike suspensions. But just like the reed it bends but doesn't break in the breeze...
